Carleton A. Richter

June 27, 1944 ~ December 24, 2017 (age 73) 73 Years Old


Carleton A. Richter, age 73, of Princeton, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2017, at the Markesan Resident Home in Markesan.  He was born on June 27, 1944, in Ripon, WI, the son of Norbert and Cora (Braun) Richter.  On November 30, 1968, Carleton married Jean Stevens at St. John's Lutheran Church in Princeton.  Carleton worked as a mechanic for many years at Speed Queen in Ripon.  Early in his career, Carleton was a Princeton Lions Club member and for the majority of his career, he was a Union Steward at Speed Queen.  Carleton was currently a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Princeton.  He was an avid collector of many things.  Carleton truly enjoyed his grandchildren, going to their many activities, especially their band concerts at school.  He also enjoyed farming and had a fondness for animals, especially dogs.   

Carleton is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jean Richter of Princeton; 9 children, Martha Richter of Princeton, Karin (Jay) Hall of Princeton, Carter (special friend, Lori Gurke) of Princeton, Sarah (Kurt) Gosdeck of Green Bay, Marie (Terry) Van Rossum of Princeton, Carlin (Barbara) Richter of Neshkoro, Mary Richter and husband Serign Konta of Princeton, Carver Richter of Princeton, Marion "China" (Greg) Schumann of Montello; 19 grandchildren, Parker Richter; Durand and Payton Hall; Cooper, Conner, Libby, Collin Richter; Jordan and Autumn Gosdeck; Cora and Baron Van Rossum; Kayla Klug, Katelyn, Kendra and Keira Richter; Kaleb, Kaiden, Kameron and Kashton Schumann; many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Norbert and Cora Richter; mother and father-in-law, DuWayne and Irmgard Stevens. 

A visitation for Carleton A. Richter will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at the Wachholz and Sons Funeral Home, 303 Harvard St., in Princeton.  The Funeral Service for Carleton A. Richter will be held on Thursday, December 28, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., with a one hour visitation prior to the service at the Calvary Lutheran Church, 202 South Farmer St., in Princeton.  Pastor Robert Busse will officiate.  Carleton will be laid to rest following the service in the Memory Hill Cemetery.  Please visit our website www.wachholzandsons.com to send a condolence or to share a memory of Carleton with his family.
