L. Roger Kallas

April 4, 1931 ~ March 3, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old


L. Roger Kallas, age 85, of Princeton, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017, with his family by his side at ThedaCare  Hospital in Berlin.  He was born on April 4, 1931, in Princeton, a son of Felix and Helen (Kuharski) Kallas.  Roger graduated from Princeton High School in 1949.  On April 23, 1955, he married Elaine Mlodzik at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Princeton.  In his early years of employment, he worked for the Semro Company delivering milk.  He also worked on his own, painting, and wallpapering,  which he loved to do.  He was later employed part time as a janitor for St. John's Catholic Church in Princeton and also worked nights at the Handcraft Company in Princeton.   Once married, Roger worked at" Carrie Craft" of Berlin building large boats.  He retired from Oshkosh Heater Plant in 1991, now known as TTI, of Princeton, where he worked as a welder.  Roger was a long time member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.  In retirement he loved to fish, both in summer and winter.  He enjoyed gardening, grass cutting, watching and feeding the birds and squirrels. 

Roger is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elaine Kallas of Princeton, 2 children, Mark (Shelly) Kallas of Princeton, Kristine Kallas of Arizona; 4 grandchildren, Mitchell (Amber) Kallas of Ripon, Mollie Kallas of Madison, Marie Kallas of Princeton, Travis Schueler of Iowa; 2 great grandchildren, Maci Kallas, Hunter Schueler; brother, Mike (Ginger) Kallas of Princeton; special friends, Elmer Reetz, Bruce Dreger, Dennis Bartol, Ron Seeliger, Tom Sondalle, Reuben Nighbor, Adrian Lashock, other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Helen Kallas; sisters, Lois Jankowski and Helen Mae Frost; special friend, Urbie Lashock. 

A Mass of Christian Burial for L. Roger Kallas will be held on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1211 W. Main St., in Princeton.  Father Dale Grubba will conduct the Mass.  Roger will be laid to rest following the service in St. John's Catholic Cemetery.  Please visit our website www.wachholzandsons.com to send condolences to the family.
