I lost my father too and understand your loss all too well. And so, I send my heartfelt condolences to you, Rudy and Ron. Nick spoke of the two of you often whenever he stopped by our house to chat during his countless walks through the neighborhood. He was a good neighborhood friend, a decent man of good character who believed that people should get along and be respectful one to the another. I loved his presence that blessed our lives and brought us neighborhood insights, the latest news in the area, and generally good feelings. Dear Nick helped us cope with our contentious next door neighbor and even visited her to urge her to be civil toward us. He also provided this thoughtful service for the former owners of our house who also had a terrible time with the same next door neighbor. That's how he was. He believed in right living enough to attempt to persuade others to put their misplaced hatred away and get along. I'll miss seeing Nick walking passed our house and/or stopping to tell me how nice my spring flowers are, or hear about the early days in Brown Deer, or how I should visit Rudy at UWM (where I currently work and Rudy used to) and see if he had some building materials that my husband and I could use around the yard, etc. (LOL) Being somewhat shy, I didn't reach out, and regret it now. I also regret not having visited Nick after his last operation. Even so, I walked passed his home several times and sometimes rang his doorbell to see if he was back home and feeling better.

I miss you, Nick Kraus! I'm hoping now you'll be our guardian angel!

Ron:
Sorry to hear about the death of your Dad. I only met him once (at your Mom's funeral), but he seemed to be a man who enjoyed life and all that it brought his way. We will not be able to make the funeral, but our prayers will be with you and your family.
Warren
