On Friday, March 29, 2024, Virginia Hoffman, age 89, was taken home by her husband who she said came to talk to her every Friday night. She was also surrounded by her loving family and staff at Whispering Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ripon. She was born on June 19, 1934, in the Township of St. Marie, a daughter of Norbert and Frances (Marshell) Disterhaft.
On April 22, 1952, she married Robert “Bob” Hoffman at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Princeton, WI. Virginia worked as a laborer at Alliance Laundry Systems in Ripon, retiring in 1996 after 29 years of service.
Virginia was a member of the Wisconsin Deer Hunters. Her many hobbies included crocheting afghans, playing bingo, traveling to different casinos, playing cards with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and all the different crafts and activities at Whispering Pines. Virginia especially cherished the summers her great granddaughter Sarabeth spent up at the cabin helping her.
Those Virginia leaves behind to cherish her memory include her son, Dennis (Sue) Hoffman of Neshkoro; 5 grandchildren, Michelle (Troy) Steege of Montello, Malinda (Bill) Parsons of Wautoma, Jeremy (Christine) Hoffman of Neshkoro, Marabeth (Greg) King of Neshkoro, Jonathon (Julie) Hoffman of Montello; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 3 sisters, Betty Werch of Berlin, Darleen Fromolz of Waupun, Shirley Asleson of Rush Lake; 2 daughters-in-law, Jean Hoffman of Montello, Phyllis Hoffman of Neshkoro; 2 sisters-in-law, Jean Hoffman of Wisconsin Rapids, Eileen Disterhaft of Neshkoro. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Norbert and Frances Disterhaft; husband, Robert “Bob” Hoffman; 2 sons, Bob and Al Hoffman; 3 brothers, Jim, Daniel, and Thomas Disterhaft; 2 sisters, Esther Carnako and Beverly Hopp.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia Hoffman will be held on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m., at St. James Catholic Church, 315 N. Main St., in Neshkoro. Father Dale Grubba will officiate. Burial will follow the Mass in St. James Catholic Cemetery in Neshkoro.
