James Russel Miller

June 5, 1944 ~ April 1, 2017 (age 72) 72 Years Old


James (Jimmy) R. Miller, age 72, of Markesan, unexpectedly passed away at his home on Saturday, April 1, 2017.  He was born on June 5, 1944, in Janesville, WI, a son of Arthur and Evelyn (Knapp) Miller.  Jim knew Jesus, and is now reunited with his beloved wife, Valli.

Jimmy always had a smile on his face and a joke on his lips.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and socializing.  Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy.  He worked most of his adult life in construction.  Jim was a tough but successful mentor and a talented woodworker.  He also had a knack for making great peanut butter and chocolate fudge.  

James is survived by his daughter, Heide (Anthony) Good of Onamia, MN; 3 grandchildren, Sharon Miller, Shane Miller, Kristian Sheridan; step granddaughter, Leah Good; great grandson, Jonathen Good, who shares the same birthday with his grandpa Jim; 8 siblings, Carol Hutchinson of Beloit, WI, Jerry Miller of Beloit, WI, Donna Miller of Beloit, WI, Joyce (Dennis) Busch of Muskego, WI, Thomas (Norma) Miller of Beloit, WI, Terry (Steve) Krehoff of Beloit, WI, Laurie (Randy) Cecil of Roscoe, IL, Robin Ramsay of Sun Prairie, WI; special people in Jim's life, Richie (Andrea) Najdowski of Beloit, WI, Jill Najdowski of Beloit, WI; numerous other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Valli Miller; his parents, Arthur and Eveyln (Knapp) Miller; sisters, Marilyn Hamilton, Barbara Purdy and Mary Ramsay. 

A memorial service for James R. Miller will be held at 4:00 p.m. on April 13, 2017, at Cornerstone Church, 322 Olympian Blvd., in Beloit, WI.  A celebration of life for James  will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2017, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10452, 136 N.
