Marilyn J. Radtke, age 86, of Green Lake, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at the Barrett House in Markesan. Marilyn was born on July 9, 1932, in Beaver Dam, WI, a daughter of Ervin and Alice (Bader) Sell. She graduated from Markesan High School in 1950. On October 8, 1955, she married Eldon Radtke at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Markesan. Over the years, Marilyn held various jobs. She was a receptionist at the Green Lake Vet Clinic, an office manager at Equity Livestock and worked at the Nutrition Center in Berlin.
Marilyn had a strong Christian faith and was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Princeton. Over the years, she volunteered her time as a Sunday School teacher and also sang in the church choir. She had been a member of Green Lake County TRIAD and a 4-H member and leader for many years. Marilyn was very passionate about nutrition and enjoyed cooking, canning and baking for her family. She also enjoyed sewing, embroidery, gardening, reading and music. Her biggest pride and joy was her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Those Marilyn leaves behind to cherish her memory include her husband of 63 years, Eldon Radtke of Green Lake; 4 children, Sharon (Thomas) Esslinger of Green Lake, Carol (Michael) Hecker of Germantown, Kathleen (Brian) Ninneman of Green Lake, Kristin (special friend, Al Weckwerth) Radtke of Green Lake; 4 grandchildren, Brianne (David) Carpenter, Kurt (Melissa) Ninneman, James Esslinger, Emily Hecker; 5 great grandchildren, Ella and Noah Ninneman, Piper and Wyatt Carpenter, Jackson Esslinger; nephew, Donald Wescher; sister-in-law, Florence Radtke of Princeton; many other relatives and friends and her beloved cat, Felicity. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ervin and Alice Sell; sister, Mildred Tasich.
A funeral service for Marilyn J. Radtke will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019, at 4:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 226 S. Clinton St., in Princeton. Pastor John Stelter will officiate. Marilyn will be laid to rest following the service in the Dartford Cemetery in Green Lake.
