Nikolaus Kraus, age 88, of Princeton, formerly of Brown Deer, WI, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017. He was born on April 6, 1928, in Neuhau, Slovakia, a son of Nikolaus and Anna Kraus. After living and working in Germany for five years, he emigrated to the USA in 1951. On February 18, 1956, Nikolaus married his wife, Irma, in Milwaukee. Together they were blessed with two sons. Nikolaus was a carpenter by trade, and had worked for Selzer-Ornst Construction Company in Milwaukee. He also worked as a cabinet maker for A. Fillinger of Milwaukee and for Kaul Oil. He enjoyed gardening and going to estate sales. In his younger years, he also enjoyed curling, lawn bowling, playing cards and traveling with his wife, Irma.
Nikolaus is survived by his sons, Rudolph (Dr. Karin Schiedermeier) Kraus of Münich, Germany, Ronald (Brenda) Kraus of Princeton; 2 sisters, Maria Götz of Lindenkreuz Germany, Helena (Gerhard) Klemm of Leipzig, Germany; brother, Thomas Kraus of Schmöln-Schlossig, Germany; special friends, Wally (Ann) Wolters, Hans (Annie) Heinrich, Magda Daxberger; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nikolaus and Anna Kraus; wife, Irma Kraus on January 18, 2016; brothers, Adalbert, Ludwig and Rudolf Kraus; sister, Käte Kraus.
A memorial service for Nikolaus Kraus will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 226 S. Clinton St., in Princeton. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Pastor Michael Feuerstahler will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Memory Hill Cemetery in Princeton.
