Alex Bogucke Obituary

Alex Anton Bogucke, age 86, of Princeton, passed away on February 18, 2023, at Ripon Community Hospital with his family by his side. He was born at home on the family farm on August 29, 1936, to John and Lucy (Rivers) Bogucke.

On September 14, 1957, he married Joan Humphrey at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Princeton. Joan passed away on June 19, 2001. On May 7, 2016, he married Mary Horzewski at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Princeton.

Alex worked at Hotmar’s Ace Hardware in Princeton for many years until the business closed. He was a familiar face to all who stopped in, helping with any needs they had. After the store closed, Alex owned and operated Bogucke Log Homes, building many log homes in this area. He was a skilled craftsman who passed along his knowledge of the trade to many others.

Being an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed trapping, hunting, and fishing. In the spring you could find him tapping maple trees and collecting sap to be made into maple syrup. Many in the area enjoyed this talent because he gave much of it away. Alex also enjoyed Polka music and socializing with people.

He was a quiet caring person who was always willing to help anyone in need. His contagious smile and warm personality were a result of his devotion to our Lord. Alex was a devout Catholic and his love of the Lord shown through everything he did. He will be sadly missed.

Alex is survived by his wife, Mary Horzewski of Princeton; daughter, Julie (Jeff) Bogucke of Princeton; son, Michael Bogucke of San Diego, CA; 3 grandchildren, Amanda Wenzel of Oshkosh, Cheyenne (Luke) Meyer of Princeton, Aidan Bogucke of Oshkosh; 2 great grandchildren, Ashlynn and Hunter Meyer; brother, Donald Bogucke of Princeton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Chuck and Judy Christman of Beloit; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Lucy Bogucke; his first wife, Joan; sister-in-law, Lorraine Bogucke; brother-in-law and sister-in law, Franklin and Virginia Lang; brother-in-law, George Humphrey.
