Anthony Soda Obituary

Anthony “Tony” Soda, age 81, of Princeton, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at ThedaCare Medical Center in Waupaca, WI.  He was born on January 8, 1937, in Princeton, a son of Max and Agnes (Sobralski) Soda.  After graduating from high school, Tony worked for 4 years at the Fairwater Canning Company.  On November 9, 1963, he married Shirley Renn in Los Angeles, CA.   Tony proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War serving from October 24, 1956 to October 31, 1976.  Anthony worked in the Air Force Military Intelligence serving 12 years overseas and 8 years in the United States.  After his military retirement, he worked for the State of Wisconsin Job Service in Berlin for 16.5 years, starting in March of 1977 and retiring from the Oshkosh Job Service on January 5, 1995.   Tony was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 366 of Princeton, lifetime member of the National Association for Uniformed Services, lifetime member of 40 & 8, lifetime member of the Freedom Through Vigilance Association (USAF Security Service), and he was a retired enlisted Association Chapter 66 member.  Tony dedicated his career to his country and had many volunteer hours helping area legion posts and veterans throughout the state. 

 

Anthony is survived by his wife of 54 years, Shirley Soda of Princeton; 3 children, Annette D. (Terry) Wargula of Neshkoro, Wayne A. Soda of Ripon, Anthony (Dorcas) Soda of Oshkosh; 7 grandchildren, Toni, Steven, Brooke; Thomas, Lucas, Curtis, Marcus; many other relatives and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Max and Agnes Soda; brothers, Gene and Thomas J. Soda; 2 sisters-in-law, Irene Soda, Helen Soda.

 

A visitation for family and friends of Anthony “Tony” Soda will take place on Thursday, May 17, from 4:00-7:00 p.m., at the Wachholz and Sons Funeral Home, 303 Harvard St., in Princeton.  The American Legion Post 366 Chaplain will speak at 6:00 p.m.  A private family burial, with full military honors, will take place at a later date at the Princeton City Cemetery.  Please visit our website www.wachholzandsons.com to send a condolence or share a memory of Tony with his family.
