Arden Albert Groskreutz, age 102, of Princeton, passed away peacefully at home in his sleep reaching his heavenly home on Sunday, August 22, 2021. He was born on December 16, 1918, in the township of Newton in Marquette County, WI, a son of Edward Rhinold and Ida Marie (Splittgerber) Groskreutz. Arden attended the Semrow School in the township of Newton.
Arden was baptized in the Christian faith on December 25, 1918 and was confirmed on April 9, 1933, at Crystal Lake (Stone) Church in the township of Newton. On June 6, 1948, he married Bernice Mildred Krueger at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Princeton, WI. They shared 61 years of marriage before Bernice’s passing on February 15, 2009. Arden was a hardworking man. Before his retirement he had worked at Speed Queen in Ripon, spent many years working for the Koplin and Kinas Company, was a farmer and also a carpenter.
In his younger days, Arden played guitar at many dances and was an excellent car mechanic. In retirement, he always had to keep busy working on something either at home or helping out his neighbors.
Arden was a faithful member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Princeton and would never miss reading his daily devotion. He was a God loving, very hard working, loving and devoted husband and father.
Those Arden leaves behind to cherish his memory include his 2 sons, Warren (Terry) Groskreutz of Cedarburg, WI, Marlin Groskreutz of Princeton, WI; 3 grandchildren, Eric (Evan) Sherlock, Lindsay (Seth) Wenner, Brian Groskreutz; 2 great grandchildren, Laura Wenner and Roger Wenner; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ida Groskreutz; his wife, Bernice Groskreutz; 7 brothers; 2 sisters; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Frances Krueger.
A funeral service for Arden Groskreutz will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m., at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 226 South Clinton St., in Princeton. Pastor John Stelter will officiate. Arden will be laid to rest following the service in the Memory Hill Cemetery in Princeton.
