Bernice Lewis, age 92, of Princeton, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022, at Patriot Place in Berlin. She was born on June 3, 1930, to the late Joseph and Caroline (Von Rotz) Dalka.
Bernice lived in Princeton her whole life. She attended St. John’s Catholic Grade School and Princeton High School. On January 18, 1947, Bernice married Gordon J. Lewis. Together, they raised six children. Bernice was employed at Fabriko in Green Lake for over 40 years. She was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Princeton and was active in the annual church picnic for many years. Being a devout Catholic, she always tried to see the good in people.
Bernice enjoyed bowling, spending time with family and friends, and helping others. There was a half-hour every evening when she did not want to be disturbed, it was so she could watch her favorite show, “Jeopardy” or maybe a bowling tournament.
Those Bernice leaves behind to cherish her memory include her 4 children, Mary Brunson of Oshkosh, Cindy Daye of Oshkosh, Debby (Matt) Drager of Princeton, John (Ronda) Lewis of Princeton; 14 grandchildren, Dusty (Heidi) Gerrits, Angie (Eric) Henslin, Jake (Amy) Daye, Andy (special friend, Amy) Lewis, Jill (special friend, Joe) Drager, Teri (Cameron) Higgins, Emily (special friend, Nate) Drager, Sabrina (partner, Jessica) Dodge, Jesse (Nicki) Lewis, Lily (fiancé, Ryan) Lewis, Jacky (Luke) Kirschner, James Stock, Jenna Stock, Jeanie Trueber; 24 great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gordon (Corky) Lewis on April 27, 1995; 2 daughters, Diane Lewis and Linda Day; 3 grandsons, Jarred Stock, Aaron Gerrits, Justin Lewis; great granddaughter, Briella Drager; her brother, Erwin Dalka; sister, Mildred Heffernon.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Bernice Lewis will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1211 W. Main St., in Princeton. Father Dale Grubba will officiate. Bernice will be laid to rest following the service in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery.
