Delbert “Debbie” Reetz, age 90, of Neshkoro, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2020, at the Juliette Manor in Berlin. He was born on November 1, 1929, in Neshkoro, a son of Arthur Henry Alefred and Martha Myrtle (Dahlke) Reetz. Delbert was a 1949 graduate of Westfield High School. Delbert proudly served his country in the United States Army. On November 3, 1956, he married Donna Hanson at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Princeton. For 39 years, Debbie worked as a line operator for the Speed Queen Company now known as Alliance Laundry Systems in Ripon.
Debbie was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Neshkoro where he was a faithful lifetime member. He was always happy to give his time to the church, helping out in many different ways throughout the years. Debbie was also a member of the Neshkoro Fire Department and a lifetime member of the Neshkoro Krause-Gley Crane American Legion Post 423. When he was younger, he loved playing softball and baseball. He also enjoyed time in the outdoors, fishing and hunting.
Those Delbert leaves behind to cherish his memory include his 4 children, Robert (Shelley) Reetz of Wautoma, Debbie Wiesjahn of Coloma, Cindy Reetz of Baraboo, Glenn (Rhonda) Reetz of Neshkoro; 8 grandchildren, Bradley Bengsch, Rebecca Bengsch; Shanda (friend, Nick Barrette) Wiesjahn, Garrett Wiesjahn; Christa (fiancé, Kristopher Paradies) Reetz, Shane Reetz, Tasha (fiancé Kyle Bethe) Reetz; Karley (friend, Holden Smith) Reetz; 9 great grandchildren, Anthony Crites, Bradley Crites; Michael Bengsch, London Getch; Christopher Bengsch, Mya Bengsch; Reagan Barrette; Ruth Ann Paradies, Braxton Paradies; 3 sisters-in-law, Shirley Mike of Madison, Claris Hanson of Princeton, Sandy Hanson of Fond du Lac; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Reetz on March 4, 2019; parents, Arthur and Martha Reetz; infant son, William; son-in-law, Steven Wiesjahn; brother, Alton “Jim” Reetz; sister-in-law, Elry Reetz; 2 brothers-in-law, Darwin and Elroy Hanson.
There will be a public visitation for Delbert “Debbie” Reetz on Saturday, May 23, beginning at 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at Zion Lutheran Church, 227 North State St., in Neshkoro. At the conclusion of the visitation, there will be a private memorial service at the church with Pastor John Bumgardner officiating. Delbert will be laid to rest following the service, with full military honors, at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Neshkoro. A memorial has been established to Zion Lutheran Church.
