Douglas Warren Schmidt of Sullivan, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the age of 81 years old. He was born on May 12, 1942 to Milton George Schmidt Jr. and Gwendolyn Ruth Lewis.

To know our dad was to love him. He always had a grin that made you wonder what he was thinking, and usually, he was up to no good. He was the ultimate jokester…if he wasn’t playing a practical joke, he was telling one. In his younger years, he enjoyed camping, fishing, spelunking and hunting. He was a huge dog lover and his Lucy was always by his side. He was also a huge fan of old westerns, particularly any John Wayne movie or Gunsmoke.

Dean) Werges of Warrenton, MO, Michael Schmidt (Michelle Lawson) of Warrenton, MO, Jaclyn Schmidt of Sullivan, MO; 3 stepchildren, Lynne (Joe) Sgroi, Jeannie Ryan, and Randy (Dawn) Ryan; 7 grandchildren, Ami Werges (spouse; Michael Daly) of Woodland Hills, CA, Lindsey (Jeff) Holthaus of Warrenton, MO, Whitney (Josh) Fox of Warrenton, MO, Ashley (Drew) Woodling of Holts Summit, MO, Timothy Schmidt of Omaha, NE, Cynthia Schmidt of O’Fallon, MO, Keegan Schmidt of Sullivan, MO; 11 step-grandchildren, Cassie and Ashley Ryan, Tyler Wyman, Anthony and Maxwell Ryan, Johnny, Michael, Krystal, Tasha, Ryan and Zach Ryan; 7 great grandchildren, Dylan Daly, Remmie and Stetson Holthaus, Lola, Ryder, Bristol Fox, Aaron Schmidt; 2 siblings; Daniel (Kathy) Schmidt of IL, Juanita Schmidt of Sierra Vista, AZ; his bonus sister, (cousin) Patricia May of Ripon, WI; 2 brothers-in-law, Rodger Thompson, Sam Orlando; 2 sisters-in-law, Linda Schmidt, Marty Crank. his first wife, friend and mother of his 3 oldest children, Marie Krabbenhoft; many step-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
