Eldor Kaatz, age 91, of Green Lake, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020, at the Barrett House in Ripon. He was born on December 9, 1928, at his home in the town of Brooklyn, a son of Edward and Emma (Radtke) Kaatz.
Eldor proudly served his country with the United States Army in the 194th Field Battalion Artillery, stationed in Germany. On October 31, 1953, he married Elfriede Gehret at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Princeton. Eldor farmed most of his life. He was a member of the American Legion Post 366 of Princeton and St. John’s Lutheran Men’s Club.
Those Eldor leaves behind to cherish his memory include his son, Gary (Kim) Kaatz of Berlin; daughter, Renee (Chuck) Snellgrove of Princeton; 4 granddaughters, Amanda Erspamer of Berlin, Brittney (Ryan) Erspamer of Ripon, Kayla (Garrick) Salzman of Pickett, Sierra Peters of Princeton; 9 great grandchildren, Aliya, Austin, Andre, Avantae, Maliki, Cullen, Elliana, Caden and Maverick; many nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Emma Kaatz; his wife, Elfriede Kaatz; 2 brothers, Wilbur (Hazel) Kaatz, Roland (Arlene) Kaatz; 2 sisters, Mildred (Albert) Golz, Lillian (Alvin) Hebbe.
A funeral service for Eldor Kaatz will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 226 South Clinton St., in Princeton. Pastor John Stelter will officiate. Eldor will be laid to rest following the service in the Memory Hill Cemetery in Princeton with full military honors.
