Ervin Arthur Walther Jr., age 89, of Princeton, passed away at home on Tuesday, January 11, 2022. He was born on December 9, 1932, in Mayville, WI, a son of Ervin A. and Edna (Benzel) Walther.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War. On May 14, 1955, Ervin married Ardis A. Schrank in Mayville. After his time serving his country, he became a police officer working in Mayville and Waupun before taking the Chief of Police position in Fox Lake. Years later he changed career paths owning and operating the Walther Haus Restaurant in Fox Lake and Waupun.
Ervin was a member of the National Honor Guard, the American Legion Post #366 of Princeton and the American Legion Post #69 of Mayville. Ervin’s hobbies included hunting, fishing, cooking and woodworking. In earlier years, Ervin and his wife Ardis, had enjoyed going up North to the outdoor theaters and plays. He had a special place in his heart for his dogs.
Those Ervin leaves behind to cherish his memory include his 3 children, Timothy (Ann) Walther of Greenfield, WI, Daniel (Lois) Walther of Princeton, WI, Nancy (Dale) Belter of Beaver Dam, WI; daughter-in-law, Vicki Walther of Canada; 12 grandchildren, Sam (Julie) Walther, Ryan and Sarah Walther; Brad (Stacy) Walther, Kevin (Stephanie) Walther, Hanah Walther; Joe (Jessie) Belter, Dawn (Colby) Walston, Curtis (Rachel) Belter; Ashley (Demond) Hall, Michael Walther, Brittany Harpley; 14 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ervin and Edna Walther; his wife, Ardis Walther on February 12, 2005; son, Mark Walther; his brothers and sisters.
A funeral service for Ervin Arthur Walther Jr. will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at 12:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 226 S. Clinton St., in Princeton. Pastor John Stelter will officiate. Ervin will be laid to rest following the service in the Memory Hill Cemetery in Princeton.
