Eugene Mashuda, age 93, of Princeton, passed away on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at his home. He was born on April 30, 1932, in Princeton, the son of Edward and Marcellina (Hysick) Mashuda.
On October 29, 1955, Eugene married Marie Ronspies at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Princeton. For nearly 20 years, he worked for Mashuda Contractors of Princeton. After leaving Mashuda Contractors, Eugene farmed full time until his retirement.
Eugene was an active member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Princeton where he served as an usher, was on the Parish Council and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He also served as a supervisor for the Township of St. Marie. Eugene enjoyed fishing, woodworking, being outdoors with nature and maintaining his property. He loved spending time with his family.
Those Eugene leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 69 years, Marie Mashuda of Princeton; sons, Barry (Julie) Mashuda of Princeton, Alan (Suzie) Mashuda of Princeton; 5 grandchildren, Derek (significant other, Stacy) Mashuda, Ashley (Devin) Petit; Ethan (Steph) Mashuda, Hanna (significant other, Garrett) Mashuda, Owen Mashuda; 11 great grandchildren, Brayden, Payton and Cheyenne Petit; Ramsey Mashuda, Mason, Bronx, Adler; Harmonie, Micah, Kody Mashuda; Lainey Kemnitz; sister, Nancy (Donald) Pohnl; niece, Emmaline; nephew, Elliot; special friends to Eugene, Norman Mashuda and Don Nelson; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Marcellina Mashuda; son, Christopher Mashuda.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Eugene Mashuda will be held on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1211 W. Main St., in Princeton. Msgr. James L. Gunn will officiate. Burial will conclude the Mass in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Princeton.
