Eunice Soda, age 86, of Princeton, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, June 10, 2020. She was born on July 1, 1933, on the Metcalf homestead farm in Packwaukee, WI, a daughter of Walter and Jessie (Hall) Metcalf. She attended Montello High School and graduated in 1951. On October 30, 1954, she married Kenneth Soda at St. John’s Catholic Church in Montello.
Eunice was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church of Princeton and the Council of Catholic Women and had formerly been the head of the Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Ladies Farm Bureau. She was a Master Gardener and had been the Treasurer for the Town of Mecan.
Eunice had many interests, she collected statues of the Blessed Virgin, she enjoyed dancing, traveling, feeding the birds, baking, crocheting, sewing, and flowers. She treasured her time with her family.
Those Eunice leaves behind to cherish her memory include her husband of 65 years, Kenneth Soda of Princeton; 5 children, Cheryl (David) Nickel, Kathryn (Donald) Memenga, Steven Soda, Kevin (Mary) Soda, Jessica (Richard) Zodrow; 13 grandchildren, Michael Giese; David and Sarah Memenga; Sawyer (fiancée, Sammie), Jedd, Jack, Addie, Billy Soda; Max, Sam, Nellie, Molly Soda; Tyler Zodrow; 1 great grandchild, Kaysen Soda; brother, Vincent Metcalf; brother-in-law, Jon Steinhaus; 2 sisters-in-law, Diane Metcalf, Claire DeNell; other relatives and many special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Jessie Metcalf; 6 siblings, Max Metcalf, Mary Bisch, Bill Metcalf, Blanche Metcalf, Bob Metcalf, Judy Steinhaus.
A public visitation for Eunice Soda will be held at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1211 W. Main St., in Princeton on Sunday, June 14, 2020, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and on Monday, June 15, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. At the conclusion of the public visitation there will be a private family Mass of Christian Burial for Eunice Soda with Father Dale Grubba officiating. Eunice will be laid to rest in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Princeton.
