Faye E. Sondalle, age 84, of Princeton, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023, at ThedaCare Medical Center in Berlin. On October 14, 1938, Faye was born to Edward and Althea (Green) Kautzer at their home in Goodrich, WI, with her grandmother serving as a midwife.
Faye’s early school years were in country schools in Woodville and Cloverdale, WI. For 2 years, she attended Medford High School, then finished her high school education in Princeton, WI, graduating in the class of 1956. On September 13, 1958, she married Tom Sondalle at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Princeton.
For many years, Faye worked at the Handcraft Co. in Princeton and later had a machine from Handcraft where she worked from home. She also worked at Seavecki’s Variety Store, working first in the smaller store in the middle of town and then in the Variety Store in the former theater. From there, Faye worked at the Farmers Merchant Bank in Princeton where she retired in 2000.
Faye was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Princeton and volunteered her time throughout the years helping prepare and serve funeral meals. She was active in her community, having been an election worker for many years, serving on the County Board for the Disabled and Alcoholism for 14 years and also on the One Fund Board in Princeton.
The many things Faye enjoyed were spending time at Tuttle Lake, reading books and cookbooks, baking and receiving pictures from her grandchildren. She also enjoyed traveling out East and West with her husband Tom and going up North to visit their special friends, Ed and Carla Smola. In later years, they enjoyed taking bus trips.
Faye’s family, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were very special to her, and she loved when they came to visit.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include her husband of 64 years, Tom Sondalle of Princeton; her 3 sons, Tim (Pam) Sondalle of Ripon, Todd (Brenda) Sondalle of Princeton, Scott (Natalie) Sondalle of Princeton; 6 grandchildren, Mackenzie Nelson, Ryan Sondalle; Stephanie (Carl) Yagler, Dr. Angela (Mike) Thoreson; Dr. Samuel (Matt O’Brien) Sondalle, Dr. Lydia Sondalle; great granddaughter, Chloe Nelson; step great grandson, Liam Yagler; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Althea Kautzer; 3 sisters, Garnet, Frances, Fern and 1 brother, Leroy all from scarlet fever; 4 brothers, Ray, Jerry, Earl and Dale; 2 sisters, Zella and Jacky.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Faye Sondalle will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1211 W. Main St., in Princeton. Father Dale Grubba will officiate. Faye will be laid to rest following the Mass in the Princeton City Cemetery.
