Irene M. Kutz, age 97, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at the Markesan Resident Home in Markesan. She was born on December 24, 1926, in Rush Lake, WI, the daughter of Henry and Martha (Belter) Schliepp.
Irene was a graduate of Ripon High School. She married Delbert F. Kutz on October 19, 1946. In 1948, Irene and Delbert started their family while living in Baraboo, WI. In the early 1950’s, they purchased the Wastrack family farm in Princeton where they raised cattle, hogs, crops, and their 5 boys.
Over the years, Irene worked various housekeeping jobs, working for Barnekow’s Motel and Supper Club of Princeton and for the Heidel House in Green Lake. She also worked for and retired from PGI in Green Lake where she was a custom sewing operator. As a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Princeton, Irene was involved with Gleaners and the Ladies Aid. She was a Green Lake County Extensive Homemaker member and 4-H Project Leader. Being a member of the Green Lake County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee, she was very involved with the food stand at the Green Lake County Fair.
While being involved with all those activities, family still came first to Irene. There was always room at the table for a few more whether they be friends or relatives. The Lord knows they had plenty of both. Family get togethers during the holidays, anniversaries, and reunions were always a great time. Irene loved visiting with her relatives, friends and neighbors.
Those Irene leaves behind to cherish her memory are her 3 sons, William “Bill” Kutz of Lomira, Steven (Irene) Kutz of Princeton, Dennis (Robin) Kutz of Green Lake; 2 daughters-in-law, Peggy (Paul) Walkowicz of Missouri, Bernice Kutz of Princeton; numerous, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Martha Schliepp; her husband, Delbert Kutz; 2 sons, Alan Kutz Sr. and John Kutz; 2 brothers, August and Arthur Schliepp; grandson, Robert Kutz.
