James Hebbe Obituary

On Tuesday, February 7, 2023, James L. Hebbe, passed away at age 85. James was born September 3, 1937, on the family farm in Princeton, WI to Leonard and Esther (Stewart) Hebbe.

James graduated from Princeton High School class of ’55 and on October 27, 1956, he married his high school sweetheart, Berlyce Severson. They raised four children; Monica, James, Marcia, and Richard.

James worked at a variety of jobs throughout his life that included farming, Hebbe Excavating, Speed Queen, Green Giant, Princeton School District Bus Driver, and Mashuda Contractors. He was a proud Union 139 member. In retirement, Berlyce and Jim traveled out west including Alaska with their 5th wheel. They eventually purchased a second home in Arizona where they enjoyed the warm 6-month winters. James enjoyed yearly parties on his farm and his son Jim’s farm which sometimes included blind fold toilet races, plenty of food and drink, and of course, polka music. He was always ready for a card game with relatives that stopped by and definitely enjoyed teaching and playing cards with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

James is survived by his children, Monica (Duane) Schober, Jim (Val) Hebbe, Marcia Born, Richard (Leigh) Hebbe; 8 grandchildren, Mike (Kat) Salbego, Tara (Bobby) Schmitz, Jenna (Josh) Hiland, John (Brittney) Fuller, Ashton Hebbe, Ivan Hebbe, Olivia Hebbe, and Guenther Hebbe; 13 great grandchildren; a very dear nephew, Bob (Janel) Wustrack; 5 brothers-in-law, Bob (Lucille) Severson, Alvin (Pat) Severson, David (Helene) Severson, Roger Severson, Dick (Sharron) Severson; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Berlyce; sister, Arlene; son-in-law, Fred Born.
