Janice Schiro

Janice E. Schiro, age 83, of Neshkoro, WI, passed away peacefully with loved ones by her side at the Markesan Resident Home. She was born on January 24, 1938, in Madison, WI, a daughter of Henry and Virginia (Koons) Klongland.

On August 29, 1959, Jan married Victor Schiro at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Madison.  Jan had been a Licensed Practical Nurse, an EMT and for 19 years along with her husband Vic, owned and operated Club 73 in Neshkoro.

Jan was a faithful member of St. James Catholic Church of Neshkoro where over the years, she enjoyed teaching CCD classes. She was also a member of the Council of Catholic Women of Green Lake Marquette County Deanery. Jan had many hobbies, she enjoyed reading, puzzles, playing cribbage, cooking and making crafts. She loved being with her family and spending time with friends.

Those Janice leaves behind to cherish her memory include her husband of 61 years, Victor Schiro of Neshkoro; 4 children, Lisa (Tom ) Matulich of Acton, CA, George Schiro of Madison, Richard (Sarah) Schiro of Waunakee, WI, Kara (Michael) Horst of Slinger, WI; 7 grandchildren, Andrew Matulich, Bryan Matulich, Nicholas Schiro, Hannah Schiro, Hailey Schiro, Adam Horst, Jonathan Horst; 4 siblings, James Klongland of Madison, JoAnn (David) Lien of Silver Lake, WI, Jane (Stan) Gudgel of Madison, Jeffrey (Mary Ann) Klongland of Verona, WI; brother-in-law, Steven Scott of Madison; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Virginia Klongland; her son, James Schiro; brother, Jerry Klongland; sister, Jean Scott.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Janice Schiro will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m., at St. James Catholic Church, 315 N. Main St., in Neshkoro. Father Dale Grubba will officiate. Following the service, Janice will be laid to rest in the Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Madison. A memorial has been established to Agnesian Healthcare Hospice Hope, 239 Trowbridge Drive, Fond du Lac, WI 54937.
