John L. Ventrice, age 92, of Markesan, formerly of Montello, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2024, at the Markesan Resident Home. He was born on March 1, 1931, in Chicago, IL, a son of Vincent and Virginia (Weiler) Ventrice.
John proudly served his country in the United States Army from January 21, 1952 to January 7, 1954 during the Korean War. On June 10, 1952, he married Patricia Skibinski in Chicago, IL. They shared 63 years of marriage before Patricia’s passing on August 1, 2015.
For many years, John worked as a mailer for the Chicago Tribune. He enjoyed having his weekly garage sales, woodworking and putzing around. John also enjoyed traveling, going on road trips with his wife, his brothers and their spouses.
Those John leaves behind to cherish his memory include his 3 children, John Ventrice of Joliet, IL, Roger (Janice) Ventrice of Montello, Cheryl (Scott) Freitag of Montello; 6 grandchildren, Vincent Ventrice, Anthony Ventrice, Valerie Blay; Chadd Freitag, Nicholas Freitag, Alicia Kramp; 11 great grandchildren, Vivianna, Hallie, Vincent, Gianna, Adeline, Fiora, Everett, Perla, Brandon, Sawyer, Scarlett; 2 brothers, Jim Ventrice, Bobby Ventrice; sister, Ginger Blackburn; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Virginia Ventrice; his beloved wife, Patsy Ventrice; sister, Rose; brother, Billy.
