Joseph "Joe" Jungwirth

Joseph “Joe” Jungwirth, age 76, of Princeton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Eden Brook in Omro, with his family by his side after fighting Alzheimer’s disease. Joe was born on October 17, 1949, to Joseph and Zona (Sweet) Jungwirth.

In 1968, Joe graduated from Omro High School where he was involved in sports (basketball, football and baseball), and played the tuba in band. On September 15, 1973, he married his high school sweetheart, Jenny Boettcher. Joe worked for Sherm’s Piggly Wiggly in Omro and Princeton for over 50 years. He was a member of Princeton Rotary Club. He enjoyed sports, playing cards, spending time with his family and quiet time on the deck with the dogs.

Joe loved his Lord and was involved in many areas of his church, Calvary Lutheran in Princeton, where he was a charter member and served on the original building committee. He chaired the second Growing By God’s Grace building fund.

Joe had the biggest, warmest smile. His quiet, calm presence and world’s best hugs could make anyone feel at ease. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 52 years, Jenny Jungwirth, of Princeton; son, Joe (Jamie) Jungwirth of Neenah; daughter, Janna Jungwirth of Princeton; grandson, Kyle Roby; 2 granddaughters, Kaitlin Roby and Madison Jungwirth; 7 siblings, Cynthia (Dwight) Bruss of Omro, Steve (Kathy) Jungwirth of Omro, Suzanne Jungwirth of Omro, Rose (Tom) Allcox of Waukesha, Mary Jungwirth of Fond du Lac, Deb (Mark) Wallintin of Oshkosh, Ron (Lawanda) Jungwirth of Omro; sister-in-law, Sheila Langkau of Neenah; brother-in-law, Steve (Claudia) Boettcher of Neenah; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Zona Jungwirth; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Arlene Boettcher; 3 sisters, Dotty Wade, Gloria (Arlin) Dunlop, Elizabeth Jungwirth; brother, James Jungwirth.

A Celebration of Joe’s life will be held on Friday, August 28, at Calvary Lutheran Church, 202 S. Farmer St. in Princeton, with Rev. Charles Schultz officiating.
