Karen L. Scharenberg

Karen L. Scharenberg, age 76, of Beaver Dam, passed away on Friday, August 11, 2023, at the Beaver Dam Health Care Center. She was born on August 25, 1946, in La Grange, IL, a daughter of Anthony and Rose (Saben) Matijevich. 

Karen graduated from Lyons Township High School in La Grange and worked at Reynolds Corp. through her high school years. On September 6, 1969, she married Frank Scharenberg. She then moved to Montello and worked at Scharenberg’s White Lake Beach Resort for over 20 years. Frank and Karen later divorced. She finished her working career at the Country Café and Wesner’s Supper Club, both of Princeton. Karen enjoyed fishing, cooking, traveling, bowling, playing cards and spending time with her family. 

Those left behind to cherish her memory include her daughter, Jennifer Scharenberg of Montello; 2 grandchildren, Theresa Langdon, Curtis Scharenberg; brother, Tony (Vicki) Matijevich of California; sister, Jeany (Wayne) Marquardt of California; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Rose Matijevich; son, Thomas Scharenberg; long time partner, Edward Cezyick.
