Maureen Breitenfeldt Obituary

Maureen Evonne (King) Breitenfeldt, age 86, of Princeton, WI, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2022, at Brown-Wilcox in Berlin, WI. She was born on November 18, 1935, a daughter of Willis and Lorraine (Santy) King.

Maureen was born in Milwaukee, WI and went to high school in Wautoma, WI. She attended UW Oshkosh and studied to be an art teacher for two years before marrying Jay Breitenfeldt in 1955. The couple lived several years in North Carolina while Jay was in the Marine Corps, returning to Wisconsin after he finished his service. Maureen spent most of her life living and working in the Princeton area. She especially enjoyed her work as a graphic artist for Sand Knit Corp. and artist at Stonehouse Farm Goods. She was a long-time member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Princeton.

Maureen had a life filled with love for people, animals, books, faith, and art. She always said she was not rich in things but was so blessed by the people in her life. She always had a dog, and her beloved Arabian horses were a big part of her life. Maureen loved cooking for and feeding just about anyone who stopped at her house for a visit.

A talented artist and loving person Maureen opened her heart and her home to many people. She will be greatly missed by the many people and extended family who have been blessed to be a part of her life. There were no strangers at “grams” house.

Those Maureen leaves behind to cherish her memory include her daughter, Shawn (John) McAfee of Omro; 2 sons, Jay (Ruth) Breitenfeldt of Princeton, Paul (Patty) Breitenfeldt of Princeton; 6 grandchildren, Joshua McAfee, Jenna Jenkins, Shaye Johnson, Kylie Breitenfeldt, Linnai Breitenfeldt and Emma Breitenfeldt; former daughters-in-law, Linda Purinton and Martie Breitenfeldt; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Lorraine King; her husband Julius “Jay” Breitenfeldt; brother, James King; sister, Patricia Weis.
