Michael “Shag” Goetz, age 86, of Princeton, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022, at The Residences on Forest Lane in Montello. He was born on January 29, 1936, in Milwaukee, WI, a son of Henry and Frances (Waldock) Goetz.
Shag proudly served his country as a tank sergeant in the United States Army. On July 9, 1960, he married Shirley Hautz at St. Gerard’s Catholic Church in Milwaukee, WI. For over 20 years, he worked for Barry Transfer in Milwaukee as a truck driver.
Shag loved his family. He was a jack of all trades who enjoyed helping many people. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting and socializing at the bar. Shag was a member of the Princeton VFW Post #10452 and was proud to be a veteran.
Shag is survived by his 2 sons, Michael (Diane) Goetz of Montello, Gregory (Zhaleh Barari) Goetz of Grafton; 2 grandchildren, Michael (fianceé, Kelsea Dushack) Goetz of Pardeeville, Marcus (Deandra Kendall) Goetz of Montello; 2 great granddaughters, Oaklynn and Layklynn; great grandson, Madix Goetz; brother, Gary Goetz of Princeton; sister, Sharon (Jim) Dulski of Menomonee Falls; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Frances Goetz; his wife, Shirley Goetz; numerous brothers and sisters.
A memorial service for Michael “Shag” Goetz will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., at the Wachholz and Sons Funeral Home, 303 Harvard St., in Princeton. Father Dale Grubba will officiate. Michael will be laid to rest following the service in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Princeton.
