Orlo A. Judas, age 82, of Princeton, WI, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023, at the Cherry Meadows Hospice in Appleton. He was born at home in the township of Mecan on April 25, 1941, a son of Elmer and Regina (Schroeder) Judas.
After attending Montello High School, Orlo proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1963 to 1968. As a member of the 54th Engineering Battalion Company D, he helped build floating bridges while serving in Germany and Vietnam. On June 25, 1966, Orlo married Sharon L. Golz at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Princeton. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he worked as a press operator for 38 years at Alliance Laundry Systems in Ripon. For over 20 years, he was a bus driver for the Princeton School District.
Orlo was a member of the American Legion Post 366 of Princeton for 39 years. He was very active in the post and helped organize many of their events. He was also a member of the Honor Guard. He enjoyed tinkering and was a jack of all trades. He also enjoyed reading, sitting in his recliner watching western movies, and in his younger days, hunting and fishing. Orlo loved being with his family.
Those Orlo leaves behind to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 57 years, Sharon L. Judas of Princeton; 2 children, Mark (Laurie) Judas of Princeton, Tammie Rodgers of Little Chute; 5 grandchildren, Collin (special friend, Kristina) Rodgers, Courtney Rodgers; Melissa Johnson, Brandi (Adam) Berger, Katherine (Dustin) Cutter; 9 great grandchildren, Adalaine, Aaliyah, Isabella, Daniel, Sophia, Ashlyn, Joshua, Bristol, Owen; brother, Allen (Linda) Judas of Green Lake; sister, R. Sharon Judas of Ripon; brother-in-law, Gary (Diane) Golz of Madison; nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends. Especially his comrades at the American Legion Post 366 of Princeton. He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Judas; his mothers, Regina Judas and Viola Judas; 2 sisters-in-law, Judy Trampf and Joyce Judas.
A memorial service for Orlo A. Judas will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at 11:30 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 226 S. Clinton St., in Princeton. Pastor John Stelter will officiate. Full military honors will follow the service. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, a memorial has been established.
