Ray Salbego, age 89, of Princeton, WI, passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at the Courtyard at Oshkosh after a brief stay. He was born on January 21, 1935, in Joliet, IL, the son of Emil and Mary (Csepregi) Salbego.
On September 11, 1954, Ray married Alberta “Sis” Culik in Lockport, IL. They enjoyed 56 wonderful years of marriage before Alberta’s passing on June 11, 2011.
Ray made a living doing something he loved, farming. From 1974 to 2001, he served on the Princeton Town Board. Ray played the harmonica, enjoyed gardening, walking his dog and cat, putting jig saw puzzles together, spending time with his family, and in earlier days, loved dancing with his wife.
Those Ray leaves behind to cherish his memory are his 3 sons, Nick (Margaret) Salbego of Oshkosh, Jeff (Cindy) Salbego of Rio, Chris (Kim) Salbego of Princeton; his daughter, Toni (Rich) Zimmerman of Princeton; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Mary Salbego; his wife, Alberta “Sis” Salbego.
A funeral service for Ray Salbego will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 12:00 p.m., with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m., at the Wachholz and Sons Funeral Home, 303 Harvard St., in Princeton. Father Dale Grubba will officiate. Ray will be laid to rest in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Princeton, following the service.
