Rev. Ronald Schultz, age 90, of Berlin, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, leaving his earthly home to be with his Savior in Heaven. He was born on November 10, 1930, in Kenosha, WI, a son of Ferdinand and Emma (Kipp) Schultz.
Ronald was brought into the family of God when he was baptized into the Christian faith on December 7, 1930. On May 28, 1944, he made public his confession of his Christian faith when he was confirmed at Fairview Lutheran Church in Milwaukee, WI.
In 1949, Ronald graduated from the Northwestern Preparatory School in Watertown, WI. He then attended Northwestern College in Watertown, graduating in 1953. After graduating from college, he attended the Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, WI. Upon graduating from the Seminary in 1958, Ronald served as tutor at Michigan Lutheran Seminary in Saginaw, MI. On April 20, 1965, he married Lovella Schmidt in Minneapolis, MN. He went on to faithfully serve congregations in South Dakota, Nebraska, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. He retired after serving the Lutheran Tri-Parish of Budsin, Newton and Little Mecan. After his retirement, Pastor Schultz assisted at St. John Lutheran Church in Berlin, WI, and also assisted area congregations when needed.
Ronald was a member and former Pastor at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Budsin. He enjoyed antiques, fishing and gardening. He loved visiting with people, being with his family and telling stories to his grandchildren.
Those Ronald leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 56 years, Lovella Schultz of Berlin; 5 children, Rev. Andrew (Vicki) Schultz of Barre Mills, WI, Maria (Troy) Urban of Oshkosh, WI, Sarah Thorpe of Oshkosh, WI, Anna (Michael) Madigan of Montello, WI, Elizabeth ( Rev. Christian) Christenson of Cornell, WI; 21 grandchildren, Abigail (Scott) Georgson, Magdalen (Aaron) Schwartz, Philip Schultz, Lydia Schultz; Anthony (Shannon) Urban, Ashlyn Urban, Addison Urban, Andrew Urban; Jacob (Kaitlin) Thorpe, Aaron Thorpe, Nathaniel Thorpe; Elizabeth (Chase) Spillner, Dustin Madigan, Michael Bignell, Desirée Madigan; Christian Christenson, Samuel Christenson, Jonah Christenson, Phoebe Christenson, Lena Christenson, and preceding his grandfather into Heaven, Obadiah Christenson; 8 great grandchildren; brother, Loran (Arlo) Schultz of West Bend; many other relatives and friends. He is further preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand and Emma Schultz; 2 brothers, 7 sisters.
A funeral service for Rev. Ronald Schultz will be held on Thursday, June 24, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Budsin, W3008 County Road E of rural Montello. Pastor John Bumgardner will officiate. Rev. Ronald Schultz will be laid to rest following the service in St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery of Budsin.
