Rita Ann Lawrence, age 87, of Green Lake, WI, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021. She was born on March 22, 1934, in Rush Lake WI, a daughter of Stanish Frank and Ella Alice (Schliepp) Hoppa.
Rita lived and worked in the Berlin area for most of her life. She attended St. Michael’s Grade School and graduated from Berlin High School. She went on to further her education at Fox Valley Technical College where she studied to be a dietician. On May 15, 1965, she married George Lawrence at Trinity Lutheran Church in Redgranite, WI. Rita worked at Realist Inc for 4 ½ years. She then worked as a cook in the dietary department at Berlin Memorial Hospital for 30 years, retiring in April of 2000. After retiring, she became a volunteer at the Berlin Hospital.
Rita was a home gardener. She raised poodles, enjoyed camping, swimming, watching television, dancing, traveling and playing games, especially Bingo. She truly loved the time she spent with her family and friends. She will be dearly missed.
Those Rita leaves behind to cherish her memory include her 6 children, Lawrence (Chris) Erickson of CA, Michael (Norma) Erickson of Green Lake, WI, Sharon (Greg) Ziegler of Appleton, WI, Karen Fields of Beloit, IL, Eileen (Don) Ebert of Princeton, WI, Terri (Steve) Walker of AZ; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Violet (Richard) Krell of Winneconne, WI; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Stanish and Ella Hoppa; her husband, George Lawrence; 4 sisters, Leone Malson, Alvina O’Kon, Gladys (John) Peterson, Marcella Lipke; son-in-law, Vernon Fields.
A funeral service for Rita Lawrence will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 313 East Montello St., in Montello. Pastor Peter Zietlow will officiate. Following the service, Rita will be laid to rest in the Foster Road Cemetery in Redgranite.
