Robert “Bob” Zuberbier, age 87, of Markesan, formerly of Princeton, passed away surrounded by family on Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at the Markesan Resident Home in Markesan. He was born on September 23, 1935, in Hortonia, WI, a son of Hugo and Anita (Radichel) Zuberbier.
After graduating from Hortonville High School in 1954, Zube enlisted in the United States Army serving in active duty from July 20, 1954 to July 19, 1956. Bob continued to serve his country in the Army Reserves until 1962. On September 21, 1957, he married Anita Toll at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Fond du Lac, WI. For the majority of his working career, Bob was head of the premium cashiering dept. for Aid Association for Lutherans out of Appleton, WI, retiring in 1986.
Bob had a love for sports. When he was young, he was a tremendous athlete and was proud of his athletic achievements during the time he served in the Army. Zube not only loved participating in sports but also enjoyed watching them. He had many hobbies which included hunting, fishing, golfing, bowling, working in his garden and sitting on the deck with his wife, Anita.
Those Bob leaves behind to cherish his memory include his 3 children, Lynn Zuberbier-Uecker of Neenah, Wanda (David Sr.) Raasch of Princeton, Alan (Amy) Zuberbier of Fremont; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) Oliver, Adam (Elise) Uecker, Amanda (Brian) Prickett, Jeremy (Ginny) Uecker, Sarah (Ryan) Galligan, David “DJ” (Claire) Raasch, Aric (Gina) Zuberbier, Abby (Eric) Bieniewski, Alex Zuberbier, Anna (Dylan) Houle; 19 great grandchildren and one on the way; brother, Lee (Carol) Zuberbier; brother-in-law, Jerry Behm; sister-in-law, Serena Toll; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugo and Anita Zuberbier; wife, Anita Zuberbier; brother, Hilbert (Valgene) Zuberbier; sister, Nancy Behm; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Lillian Toll; brother-in-law, Frederick “Fritz” Toll.
A funeral service for Robert Zuberbier will take place on Monday, August 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 226 S. Clinton St., in Princeton. Pastor John Stelter will officiate. Bob will be laid to rest, with full military honors, following the service in the Memory Hill Cemetery in Princeton.
