Ronald R. Jahns

Ron Richard “Hank” Jahns, age 84, of rural Markesan, was called to heaven by his Savior on Wednesday, February 9, 2022. Ron passed away in the home where he resided for over 50 years. He was born on July 21, 1937, in Van Dyne, WI, a son of Emil and Olga (Schultz) Jahns. 

On August 19, 1961, Ron married Joanne Pieper in Caledonia, MN. Ron worked at Speed Queen in Ripon until July of 1974 and then at the Green Lake County Highway Department for 24 years before retiring in 1998. He couldn’t stay away from snowplowing, so for over 10 years he worked part-time for the Township of Green Lake. 

An active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Green Lake, he served on the Church Council, ushered and assisted with maintenance and lawncare at the church and school. Christ based education was a priority for his children and grandchildren. Ron enjoyed driving his John Deere tractors, attending Steam Power Shows, planting potatoes, teaching life skills to his grandchildren, deer hunting, the Green Bay Packers and visiting with his many relatives, and friends.  

Those Ron leaves behind to cherish his memory include his wife of 60 years, Joanne Jahns of Markesan; 3 children, Joel (Nina) Jahns of Markesan, Jami Jahns of Oshkosh, Jim (Rebecca) Jahns of Crete, IL; 7 grandchildren, Linden Jahns, Reid Jahns, Nathaniel Jahns; Kaci Henning, Kelci Henning; Eliza Jahns and Ethan Jahns; 2 great grandchildren, Tripp and Kenzington. 4 siblings, Donald (Judy) Jahns, Norman (Joan) Jahns, Alice Bazeley, Ruth Feavel; brother-in-law, Bernhard Pieper; sister-in-law, Beverly Pieper; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and life-long friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Olga Jahns; infant son, Jodie; 5 brothers, Harold Jahns, Robert Jahns, Orlo (Marie) Jahns, Ervin (Mernabell) Jahns, Melvin (Phyllis) Jahns; 4 sisters, Edna (Harold) Lehner, Elda (Gordon) Pinch, Carol (Glen) Reinhold, Shirley Jahns; 4 brothers-in-law, Don Bazeley, Kenneth Feavel, LaVerne Pieper, John Meyer; 2 sisters-in-law, Wanda Pieper and Dawn Meyer.  

A visitation for Ronald Jahns will take place on Sunday, February, 13, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., at Peace Lutheran Church, 440 Lake St., in Green Lake, WI. A Christian Victory Service will follow the visitation at the church at 3:00 p.m., with lunch to follow. Pastor Nick Haasch will officiate. Ron will be laid to rest on Monday, February 14, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in Ledgeview Memorial Park in Fond du Lac. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church, 440 Lake St., Green Lake, WI 54941 or to Winnebago Lutheran Academy, 475 East Merrill Ave., Fond du Lac, WI 54935.
