Thomas Ruhl Obituary

Thomas Edward Ruhl, age 76, of Princeton, WI, passed away on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the Ripon Community Hospital. He was born on January 30, 1948, in Ripon, WI, a son of Verne J. and Gladys P. (Nelson) Ruhl.

 

Tom grew up in Princeton and graduated from Princeton High School in 1966. He went on to further his education and became a graduate of UW Stevens Point. On July 29, 1978, he married Linda Mlodzik at St. James Catholic Church in Neshkoro. As a self employed brick and concrete mason for over 30 years, Tom’s work can be seen throughout Green Lake County. He went on to work at Fox Lake Prison as a corrections officer for 10 years until retirement.

 

Being an avid sports fan, Tom liked the Green Bay Packers, UW Badgers, Milwaukee Brewers and loved the St. Louis Cardinals. He took pride as the Princeton High School baseball coach and JV basketball coach in the 80’s and 90’s. Tom enjoyed gardening and tending to his apple orchard. He loved to spend time at the family cottage in Rhinelander. He always looked forward to hunting and fishing trips with his son and cherished time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

 

Those Tom leaves behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Linda Ruhl; son, Todd (special friend, Michelle Knutson) Ruhl; 2 daughters, Tammy (Seth) Steenburgen, Becky (Ken) Ecker; granddaughter, Maelynn Steenburgen; 2 grandsons, Everett and Will Ecker; sister, Barbara (Tom) Sullivan; brother, Richard (Sara) Ruhl; mother-in-law, Marjorie Mlodzik; 7 brothers-in-law, Roger (Sue) Mlodzik, Harold Mlodzik, Steve (special friend, Eunice) Mlodzik, Felix (special friend, Kim) Mlodzik, Matt (Nan) Mlodzik, Russel Mlodzik, Phil (Mary) Mlodzik; 2 sisters-in-law, Fran (Mark) Krause, Sarah (Roger) Naparalla; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Verne and Gladys Ruhl; father-in-law, Mark Mlodzik; 2 sisters-in-law, Caroline (Jack) Benson, Mary Mlodzik-Redding.

 

Family and friends of Thomas Ruhl may gather on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Princeton City Park, 101 Wisconsin St. in Princeton. In the event of inclement weather, the gathering will be held at Wachholz and Sons Funeral Home, 303 Harvard St., in Princeton. A celebration of life service for Thomas Ruhl will be held on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., at River Shores Church, 253 S. Church St., Berlin, WI 54923. Pastor Gary Zacharias will officiate. A reception will follow the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
