Virginia Rozek, age 98, of Markesan, formerly of Princeton, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2019, at the Markesan Resident Home. She was born on August 18, 1921, in the Town of Princeton, a daughter of Jake and Ida (Kwiatkowski) Soda. In her younger days, Virginia worked in Ripon, WI, for the Barlow and Seelig Manufacturing Company which eventually changed ownership and became Speed Queen. On April 23, 1947, Virginia married Felix “Phil” Rozek at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Princeton. They were blessed with 52 years of marriage before his passing in June of 1999.
Virginia enjoyed crocheting and embroidery and was a wonderful seamstress. She made beautiful embroidered pillowcases and aprons that she donated annually to the Catholic Church Picnic. She was a big fan of the Milwaukee Braves and Brewers.
Virginia is survived by her sister, Beatrice Mashuda of Mars, PA; brother, Robert (Nancy) Soda of Princeton; special niece, Natalie Sondalle of Princeton; special nephew, Brad (Kim) Soda of Princeton; nieces and nephews, Jack, Ronald, Beverly, Bonnie, Donna, Kimball, Mark, Jenelle, Deborah, Charles, Brad, Kenny, Lorene, Mike, Kevin, Sandy, Natalie, Monica, Trina, Rhonda; special neighbors, Tom and Betty Bradley of Princeton; many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Ida Soda; husband, Felix “Phil” Rozek; sisters, Phyllis Bornick, Isabel Golz, Loretta Seman; niece, Colette Soda.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia Rozek will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1211 W. Main St., in Princeton. Virginia will be laid to rest following the Mass in St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Princeton. Father Dale Grubba will officiate.
